I'm running for the State Senate!

In these unstable political times, it's clear that voters like you are eager to regain control of our state government. As a State Representative from Oakland County, I've been working to give you the necessary tools by sponsoring bills in the Michigan House to end gerrymandering and increase government transparency.

Earlier this year, I drafted legislation to expand upon our state's open records laws and remove the exemption for the Governor and State Legislature from the Freedom of Information Act laws so that you can shine a light on the money and influence in our political system. Read more about this legislation in a column I wrote in yesterday's Detroit News.

These ten bills passed the House unanimously but remain stalled in the State Senate.

I'm announcing today that I'm running for the State Senate because we need State Senators who will act with a sense of urgency to turn this state around. No one in state government should remain complacent when we rank dead last among all fifty states in ethics and accountability.

I have a strong record of taking on the big issues facing Oakland County, from fixing our broken roads to making our neighborhoods safer. And I'm ready to continue to take on the big issues facing our state as your State Senator.

I’m asking for your early support. Can you chip in $25, $50 or $100 to help me launch this campaign for the State Senate?

Be sure to stay connected with the campaign on Facebook and Twitter. I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in the year ahead about how we can take on the big issues facing Michigan together.

Thanks for your continued support,

Jeremy
