Moss earns LGBTQ support in bid for State Senate

LGBTQ Victory Fund announced their endorsement today of Democrat Jeremy Moss, candidate for Michigan’s 11th State Senate District.

“Victory Fund is thrilled to endorse Jeremy Moss,” said Victory Fund President & CEO Annise Parker. “Jeremy’s record of taking on the big issues facing Michigan residents makes him the best candidate for the State Senate. He has been a vital LGBTQ voice in the Michigan House and we’re ready to work on his campaign to serve in the Legislature’s upper chamber.”

Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to electing openly LGBTQ people who can further equality at all levels of government.

Moss was first elected to the Michigan House in 2014 with Victory Fund’s support and became the state’s second openly gay legislator alongside Kalamazoo Rep. Jon Hoadley. With the election of Rep. Tim Sneller of Burton in 2016, the three-member House LGBTQ Caucus introduced legislation this term to protect Michiganders from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Hoadley and Sneller also announced their endorsement of Moss’ candidacy.

“I’m excited to hit the 2018 campaign trail to become Victory Fund’s first endorsed candidate to serve in the State Senate,” Moss said. “Our LGBTQ community can count on me to be a strong voice in the State Senate, not only to push for our civil rights but also to continue to fight for government accountability and transparency that will benefit every Michigander.”

Michigan’s 11th State Senate District includes 11 communities in southern Oakland County. The seat will be open in 2018 due to term limits.
